Our 39th Garden Walk - February 16

The Garden Club of the Upper Keys cordially invites everyone interested in gardening and landscape design in the Florida Keys to "Really Groovy Gardens" during Garden Walk 2019 on Saturday, February 16, rain or shine.

We are grateful to our property owners for sharing their beautiful island garden styles, all located between mile markers 89 to 100:

Self-guided tours
Tours of the private gardens are self-guided between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. (last entry to gardens). Garden Club Member Host and Hostesses will be on hand to to help assure you see key features and answer any questions.

The Garden properties include:

  • CROTON COLOR allures the viewer from every direction. Art and precision are combined to utilize corners and angles, providing surprise and delight. Rare crotons boast large blooming specimens in an intimate, rich environment.

  • BIG PALM features a pair of majestic Bismarck Palms welcoming the viewer to a relaxing, colorful entertainment paradise. Kidney shaped pool shielded by silver buttonwoods, seldom seen yellow ixora hedge, and shimmering glass wall mural all combine to invite one to while away any free time available.

  • INDIAN MOUND ESTATE is a four-acre bayside hammock with a winding granite drive leading to three stunning architectural structures. All were built respectful of the native trees and land and in harmony with a flowing shoreline of soil conserving buttonwoods. Multi level pool and decking, postcard perfect bougainvillea, fruit grove, and signature native plants complete this well planned estate.

  • LIVING HISTORY GROVE is operated by a modern day farmer who has returned the land use to the agricultural mode. Local historians report this area was used in the 1880's by pioneer farmers. Fifty producing Key lime trees along with dozens of pineapples will give the visitor a glimpse of how early pioneers were able to provide food before commercial grocery stores.

  • Victorian ORCHID COTTAGE has tall palms, lush greens, and abundant orchids. This storybook evocation with whimsical twists is tucked into a natural hammock.
